Climate Economics, Video Series

Millions of people around the world are going on the streets and demand action in response to the climate crisis (Friday’s for Future protests). Economics is a centre-piece to a rapid and coherent climate response, but the reality of the climate crisis is not given enough attention in economics education. A year ago, two of our Rethinkers gathered and brainstormed on how to respond to this lack of attention while also proving the need for more pluralism when addressing pressing complex economic phenomena. From this exciting night emerged our video series project on Climate Economics.

For you, we have created seven videos addressing the climate crisis from the perspective of different economic schools of thought. In each video, the respective school of thought is introduced and climate measures which are proposed by academics from the field are explained. Thereby, the wide variety of potential measures and how they can complement each other is made evident. Above all, we hope that these videos will inspire economics students but not exclusively, to get engaged with a wider range of economic theories. We also hope to see these videos used as educational tools in economic classes.
